About Us
The Girl Geeks program is to empower and inspire young girls in colleges and young women in industry. We believe in fostering innovation, leadership, and inclusivity in the technology space, be it academia or industry.
The initiative took flight in 2018 with engaging workshops held at BMSIT College in Bangalore, sparking enthusiastic feedback. Building upon this success, the team has continuously refined the program. In 2023, pivotal milestones were reached with the inception of HackBout, a dynamic 36-hour hackathon, and another hackathon extending it to colleges beyond Bangalore.
Following this trajectory, the Girl Geeks 2024 event in Karnataka aimed at extending its impact to other cities within the state, while also considering expansion beyond its borders.
This year, we aim to broaden our reach and engage a larger audience by collaborating with organizations such as the India Council, IEEE Young Professionals, and other like-minded partners.

Geekathon — Proposed Use Cases
Use Case 1: AI-Powered Financial Literacy Chatbot for Women in India
Develop a conversational assistant designed to educate, guide, and empower women in India through accessible and localized financial literacy resources.
To increase accessibility to financial knowledge for women by providing an empathetic and easy-to-use AI chatbot with regionally tailored content.
- Conversational Q&A on topics like savings, budgeting, credit, investments, and government schemes
- Support for multiple regional languages with a simplified tone
- Scenario-based learning modules with short lessons and templates
- Privacy-first design ensuring minimal data collection
- Integration with verified government and NGO financial literacy resources
This solution bridges the financial knowledge gap for women by providing a culturally aware and easily accessible digital learning platform.
Use Case 2: Agentic AI Development Orchestration
Build a prototype that enables organizations to orchestrate multiple agentic AI frameworks in a vendor-neutral environment with complete observability.
Organizations often use various agentic AI frameworks but lack a unified way to integrate them into one flow while maintaining consistent and non-intrusive monitoring.
- (A) Orchestrate heterogeneous agents through a palette interface with runtime add/remove capabilities
- (B) Emit standards-based OpenTelemetry traces for end-to-end observability
- Ensure vendor neutrality and modularity to connect multiple frameworks through lightweight adapters
- Visual palette and canvas to create, link, and manage agent workflows
- Connector API layer for integration with different agent runtimes
- Telemetry exporter supporting OpenTelemetry standards
- Non-intrusive logging and tracing for transparent observability
Participants may select either Use Case 1 or Use Case 2 for their Geekathon project submission. Usage of Agentic system adds extra Value for the both the usecases

Testimonials

Guns N Roses (BIT,Bangalore)
Girl Geeks was one of the most rewarding experiences we had. Our team built Accountant.io, a Telegram bot that simplified tax planning, and through that we got to learn what it really feels like to work under pressure, debate ideas with teammates, and turn a rough concept into something that actually worked. What we liked most was the atmosphere; it never felt intimidating, everyone was curious and supportive, and that made the whole process so much more enjoyable.
The journey didn’t stop there. After the hackathon we were invited to present our idea at Finastra’s GenAI Xpo. It was such an incredible opportunity to showcase our work on a bigger stage, meet industry leaders, and see the kind of innovation happening in Generative AI. That experience gave us a lot of confidence and showed us how far an idea can go when you put your heart into it.
Overall, Girl Geeks wasn’t just a hackathon for us, it opened doors, gave us new learnings, and left us with memories we’ll carry into future projects.

Innov8tive5 (Christ (Deemed to be University), Kengeri Campus)
Participating in IEEE CSBC Girl Geeks 2024 was a transformative milestone for me personally. It was a culmination of many firsts for my team Innov8tive5 from Christ (Deemed to be University), Kengeri, Bengaluru (5th Semester B Tech CS Branch) as we developed a Generative AI use case. As the team lead, I was deeply involved in every stage — from ideation to execution — applying design thinking and human-centric principles to craft our solution. The event’s focus on women’s leadership and women-centered ideas made the experience even more meaningful. Winning 2nd place was the icing on the cake, but the real reward was the exposure, mentorship, and confidence we all gained.

I’ve been part of a lot of competitions, hackathons, and ideathons, but this one honestly felt so different and really has a special place in my heart. It wasn’t just about coding or winning, it was about learning, figuring out how to approach problems, and growing through the process. On top of that, I got to meet some amazing people who are still in touch and continue to support and inspire me. Huge thanks to the IEEE Girl Geek Hackathon for such a memorable experience!
The highlight of the experience was my team had an amazing opportunity to present our project in front of the CHRO of Finastra and their entire global team, definitely a biggest milestone for me and my teammates. Huge thanks to Ambika ma’am for making this happen!
Sometimes it’s not just about the hackathon you attend, but the journey, the people, and the growth you carry forward. This one was exactly that for me.

404 (RNS Institute of Technology)
The IEEE CSBC Girl Geeks 2024 Hackathon was an experience that truly amazed me — the organizers had planned and executed everything so well that it made the entire journey seamless and inspiring. This event was unlike any other hackathon I’ve participated in; it challenged us not only to build a functional project but also to think critically, adapt quickly, and grow together as a team. Beyond the technical work, we also had the chance to meet incredible people who continue to support and motivate us.
For the hackathon, our team developed a Bank Chatbot designed to make complex financial information easier for users to understand. It could analyze lengthy documents and T&Cs, summarize them clearly, and respond intelligently to bank-related questions and calculations.
Being part of this event was truly enriching. It pushed us to think creatively under pressure, strengthened our teamwork, and provided valuable exposure to real-world problem-solving.
